Capturing the Pulse of Light
The Philosophy

For me, a painting is more than a view; it is a sensory memory. Whether it is a one-of-a-kind original on canvas or a limited edition print, my goal is to provide a "window" that invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and experience the quiet majesty of the world as I see it.

I believe that light doesn’t just illuminate a landscape
—it performs within it.

My work is an ongoing exploration of those fleeting, monumental moments where the atmosphere takes center stage: the "Belly Dancing Clouds", the piercing clarity of a forest with "Sunbeams", and the moody, carbon-stained soul of the "Coal Country Landscapes".

The Process: Oil & Carbon

Working primarily in oils and charcoal, I seek to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern atmospheric drama. My oil paintings are built on layers of light and texture, using the richness of the medium to capture the warmth of a setting sun or the cool mist of a seascape.

In contrast, my charcoal studies allow me to strip away color and focus on the primal architecture of shadow. Using charcoal—a medium literally born of the earth—I find a raw, visceral connection to the landscapes I depict, particularly in my Coal Country series.

Experience

Over the last 20+ years, I've poured my energy into creating paintings and drawings that come from the heart, speak to the soul and are almost always inspired by nature and other artist I deeply admire.
