This ongoing series, that started as a warm-up- habit, is a testament to the fusion of intuition and rapid execution. By imposing a strict one-hour time limit on each piece, I have to stripe away the superfluous, focusing instead on the raw essence and vital energy of the subject. The unrefined texture of the charcoal amplifies the immediacy of the process, resulting in powerful, high-contrast studies where every stroke counts and the soul of the animal is laid bare on the paper.
"Cougar": Emerging from deep shadows through dramatic chiaroscuro, the cougar’s profile is defined by sharp highlights along the ears and muzzle, capturing the predator's silent concentration.
"Lioneer": This profile study uses bold, gestural hatching to render the magnificent mane and the unwavering, royal gaze of the king of the savannah.
"Listen Lynx": Centered on a piercing eye and those iconic tufted ears, this drawing makes the lynx's legendary sense of hearing and alertness almost physically palpable.
"Panthera Tigris": A work of raw power; the tiger’s roar is captured through frantic, sketchy lines that heighten the intensity of the moment and the beast’s vocal ferocity.
„Lazy Lion“: This study utilizes the warm base tone of the paper to capture the lion's relaxed, almost drowsy aura. While the heavy lids and relaxed muzzle radiate tranquility, deliberate white pastel highlights in the mane and whiskers provide vital points of light, giving the drawing an underlying presence despite its title.
"Lioness 2 Cubs": A moment of complete security and tranquility. The composition features a lioness with two cubs nestled against her in an intimate gesture of trust. Through the delicate combination of graphite and charcoal, the soft, fluffy texture of the fur becomes tactually palpable, while subtle pastel nuances lend the piece an almost ethereal lightness.

In dieser fortlaufenden Serie, die als aus einer Art "Aufwärm-Übung" entstanden ist, verschmelzen Zeitdruck und Intuition zu einem kraftvollen künstlerischen Ausdruck. Jedes Werk entsteht innerhalb einer strikten Zeit-Vorgabe von nur einer Stunde, was mich dazu zwingt, auf unnötige Details zu verzichten und stattdessen das Wesen, die Dynamik und die Seele des Motivs mit schnellen, sicheren Strichen einzufangen. Die raue Textur der Kohle unterstreicht dabei die Wildheit und Unmittelbarkeit der porträtierten Charaktere.
„Cougar“: Mit dramatischem Chiaroscuro-Effekt tritt das Profil des Pumas aus der Dunkelheit hervor, wobei die Lichtkante an Ohren und Schnauze die konzentrierte Anspannung des Jägers betont.
„Lioneer“: Diese Studie eines stolzen Löwen im Profil nutzt grobe Kohleschraffuren, um die imposante Mähne und den royalen, unerschütterlichen Blick des Königs der Tiere zu visualisieren.
„Listen Lynx“: Der Fokus auf das scharfe Auge und die charakteristischen Pinselohren lässt die sprichwörtliche Aufmerksamkeit des Luchses fast physisch spürbar werden.
„Panthera Tigris“: Ein Werk voller roher Gewalt und Energie; das weit aufgerissene Maul des Tigers im Moment des Brüllens wird durch die flüchtigen, fast skizzenhaften Linien in seiner Intensität noch verstärkt.
„Lazy Lion“: Diese Studie nutzt den warmen Grundton des Papiers, um die entspannte, fast schläfrige Aura des Löwen einzufangen. Während die schweren Lider und die entspannte Schnauzenpartie Ruhe ausstrahlen, setzen gezielte weiße Pastellakzente in der Mähne und an den Tasthaaren vitale Lichtpunkte, die der Zeichnung trotz des Titels eine unterschwellige Präsenz verleihen.
"Lioness 2 Cubs": Ein Moment vollkommener Geborgenheit und Ruhe. Die Komposition zeigt eine Löwin, an die sich zwei Jungtiere in einer innigen Geste des Vertrauens schmiegen. Durch die feine Kombination von Graphit und Kohle wird die weiche, flauschige Textur des Fells haptisch greifbar, während sanfte Pastellnuancen dem Ganzen eine fast ätherische Leichtigkeit verleihen.
